The SOEC "Story Pole"
What is a Story Pole? The South Okanagan Events Centre is proud to have two sets of four Story (Greeting) Poles permanently installed and displayed in the building. Each pole relates to the culture and beliefs connected to particular family components of Okanagn First Nations: The male, the female, the children, and the elders. The artists of the poles are all Penticton Indian Band members representing the four components themselves. The poles also represent a place where people gather and celebrate.
