JUST ANNOUNCED: Vancouver Canucks Young Stars Rosters

The Vancouver Canucks Young Stars Classic returns to Penticton and the South Okanagan Events Centre this Friday, September 16th running through to Monday, September 19th!

Prospects from the Canucks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Winnipeg Jets will land in Penticton this week to begin preparations for the four-day tournament. Each team has set its roster for the event, featuring Vancouver’s roster consisting of five products from British Columbia, including the Western Hockey League’s leading scorer in Arshdeep Bains of the Red Deer Rebels. The Surrey, BC native scored 43 goals and added 69 assists to sit with 112 points to lead the league in scoring in his 68 games played with the Rebels in 2021/22.

Calgary will bring a mix of players who skated in the American Hockey League and junior hockey leagues which includes the likes of goaltender Dustin Wolf. The 2021 seventh-round draft pick had a stellar junior hockey career with the Everett Silvertips in the WHL before joining the AHL’s Stockton Heat, where he amassed a 33-9-4 record with a 2.35 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.

The Oilers roster will see four 1st round picks to take to the ice, including a pair from the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. Xavier Bourgault amassed 36 goals and 75 points in just 43 games with the Shawinigan Cataractes in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) during the 2021/22 season and was selected 22nd overall by Edmonton while Reid Schaefer was the final selection (32nd overall) in the opening round after helping his Seattle Thunderbirds to a birth in the WHL Championship with 32 goals and 58 points in 66 games played last season. Dylan Holloway, the 14th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, and Philip Broberg, taken 8th overall in 2019, will also suit up for the Oilers, both having seen time in the NHL with Edmonton.

Three first-round selections for the Jets will be suiting up in Penticton for the Young Stars Classic as Cole Perfetti (2020), Chaz Lucius (2021) and Brad Lambert (2022) are ready for action. Perfetti was chosen 10th overall in 2020’s draft and played in 18 games with Winnipeg during the 2021/22 campaign, scoring twice and adding 7 points while Lucius was selected with the 18th overall pick in 2021. Lambert was most recently picked by the Jets in the 2022 draft, being taken at 30th overall.
